Burano

Burano is a town of 2,426 inhabitants, which stands on four islands of the Northern Venice lagoon. It is part of the municipality of Venice and in particular of the Venice-Murano-Burano municipality. It is connected by a bridge to the island of Mazzorbo, which has become a kind of appendix. The city is known for its brightly colored case houses and for the centuries-old hand-made needlework of Burano lace. The gastronomic traditions are noteworthy; typical sweets are the bussolai.
